Magic flu / cold remedy to beat the autumn sniffles



It’s this time of the year that many of us are starting to feel the chill, especially early mornings and in the evening. When I walked out of the office earlier at around 6:30pm I really felt like I needed a jacket.

Here’s a tried-and-tested brew for the moment you feel the onset of a cold or a scratchy throat. It’s spicy, but quite delicious.

In a pot, bring to boil

  • 2 cups of water
  • 3 cloves
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp ground pepper
  • 3 tulsi or bay leaves
  • pinch turmeric
  • pinch cayenne pepper

then simmer until it reduces to one cup of liquid.

Squeeze in juice of half lemon and add honey just before drinking.

Keep warm after that.
